Alterations, custom and repairs
Every hound is a little different, so here's what we can make and change for yours: cardigan snaps, skivvy necks, tri-paw changes, shorter lengths, custom fits, sun suits, names and prints, and repairs. You'll also find out how to order each one and how long it takes.
What alterations do you offer?
We have set-price add-ons for a skivvy neck, cardigan snaps and tri-paw changes, and we can quote for most other changes, like shortening the body or sleeves or taking a neck off.
You'll find the add-ons in our alterations collection, with the price on each listing:
- Skivvy Neck Add-On
- Sleeveless Cardigan Alteration Add-On
- Long Sleeve Cardigan Alteration Add-On
- Tri-Paw Alteration Add-On
Add the one you need to your cart with the garment. Cardigan snaps are one add-on per leg, so add two for both sides, or email us which leg if it's just one. For anything else, email aroo@houndtees.com.au with what you'd like and your hound's measurements, and the crew will come back with a price.
Allow 10 working days for an alteration before it ships, and check the size first, because an altered piece can't be returned or exchanged if you change your mind. If you forgot the add-on, email us before your order ships and we'll add it and invoice the balance. To alter something you already own, here's how to send it in.

Can you make something to measure for my dog?
Yes, we make custom fits and special requests, wedding outfits included, and we take a limited number each month. Every custom piece is quoted, so the first step is telling us about your hound.
Measure using our size chart, then send us:
- the chest, around the deepest part just behind the front legs
- the length, from the crook of the neck (head raised) to the start of the tail
- the neck, if it's on the chunky side
- the front leg, from the armpit to just above the dew claw, if you'd like sleeves
- a side-on photo
Use the custom orders form or email aroo@houndtees.com.au, and the crew will come back with what we can make and a quote. Once it's paid, allow 10 working days for us to make it before it ships.
Because a custom piece is made for your hound alone, it can't be returned or exchanged if you change your mind, so it's worth measuring twice.

Can I get a name or design printed on a tee?
Yes. Adding a name or one of our designs through Personalise It is $20, and printing your own logo or artwork is quoted on the size of the print and how many you need.
Personalise It is an add-on, so put the garment in your cart as well as the personalisation. Ordering the print on its own is the most common mix-up we see. You choose the text, colour, font and placement, and it goes on as a vinyl heat transfer rather than embroidery.
For a logo or your own artwork, email it to aroo@houndtees.com.au print-ready, as a 300dpi PDF or PNG, and tell us how many you're after. It's sent out for transfer printing, so we quote once we've seen it. We can only print a logo you have permission to use.
One tip: we don't recommend personalising the quilted sweaters, because printing flattens the quilt.

Can I add a skivvy neck, or have one taken off?
Yes to both. To add one, put the Skivvy Neck Add-On in your cart along with the garment, one for each piece you'd like it on. The price is on the listing, and it can go on any of our styles that doesn't already have one.
To have a skivvy taken off, email aroo@houndtees.com.au for a quote. We take the skivvy neck off and put a crew neck band on instead.
If you've already ordered, email us before it ships and we'll add the skivvy and send you the balance to pay. On limited-run fabrics we can only add one while we still have offcuts of that fabric, so it's worth asking early. Allow 10 working days before an altered piece ships.
Our necks are cut for skinny sighthound necks, so if your dog's neck is on the chunky side, start with a crew neck rather than a skivvy. An altered piece can't be returned or exchanged if you change your mind, so check the size first.

Can I send in something I already own to be altered?
Yes, you can post in something you already own, whether it's cardigan snaps on an old favourite, a neck change or a shorter length. Email aroo@houndtees.com.au first and tell us what you'd like.
Then post it, washed, with a note inside saying who you are and exactly what you'd like done (for cardigan snaps, tell us which leg), plus a reply-paid satchel so we can send it back to you:
Hound Tees, PO Box 510, Euroa VIC 3666, Australia
When it arrives, we'll email you an invoice for the work. Once that's paid, allow 10 working days before it heads home. Parcels often reach us weeks after the first email, so the note inside really helps us match it up. If it needs mending rather than altering, see our repairs answer.

Can you repair my Hound-Tee?
Yes, we repair Hound-Tees for free, as long as the postage is covered. Most holes and split seams can be mended, and the crew will take a look when it arrives. Allow 10 working days for the repair before it heads home.
Post it to Hound Tees, PO Box 510, Euroa VIC 3666, Australia with a note inside saying who you are and what needs fixing, plus a reply-paid satchel so we can send it back. If you're not sure it can be saved, email a photo to aroo@houndtees.com.au first and we'll let you know.
If you'd rather fix it yourself, our iron-on repair kit has five fabric patches, and there are more in patches and repair kits. Following the care instructions helps your tees last longer, too.

My dog hates having their legs lifted. Is there a version that snaps up?
Yes, the cardigan alteration. We add flat snap studs up the side of the body and leg, so the garment goes over the head and snaps closed at the side, with no legs to lift and no paws to thread through. It's also the one we recommend most for hounds with arthritis or those recovering from surgery.
Pick the add-on that matches your garment, the Sleeveless Cardigan Alteration Add-On or the Long Sleeve Cardigan Alteration Add-On, and add it to your cart with the garment. The price is on the listing. One add-on covers one leg, so add two for snaps on both sides, or email us which leg if it's just one.
It works on our tees and sweaters, and we can add it to ones you already own: here's how to send them in. On a new order, allow 10 working days before it ships, and check the size first, because an altered piece can't be returned or exchanged if you change your mind. Our guide to easy-on snap alterations explains more.
Can I get one of your prints on a different garment?
Usually, yes. Pick the garment you'd like first, then add Personalise It: Add Design to your cart and choose the design. It's $20, like the rest of Personalise It.
If the garment already carries a print, the second design goes on the opposite side, because we don't have plain versions of those. A graphic from a tee that has sold out can usually still be printed onto a current garment, so it's worth asking even if you can't find it on the site.
The limit is fabric. Where the print is part of the fabric itself, rather than a design printed on top, we can only make it into another style while we still have some of that fabric left. Email aroo@houndtees.com.au with the print and the style you're after and we'll check.

Do you make sun-protective clothing?
Yes, we make the Made to Order UV Dog Sun Suit for all breeds, in your hound's size. Because it's made to order, allow 10 working days before it ships, unless the listing says otherwise.
The standard sun suit covers down to the bottom of the rib cage. If your hound needs more coverage, like a longer belly panel or all four legs, email aroo@houndtees.com.au with their measurements and a photo, and we'll come back with what we can make and a quote. If you're after a particular UV rating, ask us before you order.
For lighter cover on warm days, our sleeveless tees help keep the sun off too. Check your hound's size first with the size chart and size finder.

Can you change the neck, sleeves or length on one of your styles?
Usually, yes. Most of our styles can be made shorter or smaller, and some can be made larger. Common changes are taking up the length for a short-bodied hound, shortening or removing sleeves, and widening or removing a neck. Each one is quoted, except adding a skivvy neck, which is a set-price add-on: see adding or removing a skivvy.
Email aroo@houndtees.com.au with what you're picturing, your hound's measurements and a photo, and we'll come back with a price. For a shorter length, measure from the base of the neck to the top of the first tail joint, because that's where the altered garment will finish. An altered piece can't be returned or exchanged if you change your mind, so measure carefully.
Turning a long sleeve sweater into a sleeveless one leaves two small seams over the armhole where the sleeve was. On a new order we make the change before it ships, so allow 10 working days. For something you already own, here's how to send it in.

Can you alter a tee for my three-legged dog?
Yes, we alter tees for tri-paw hounds, and we do a lot of them. Add the Tri-Paw Alteration Add-On to your cart with the garment; the price is on the listing.
For a front-leg amputee, we close off the sleeve on the missing side of a long sleeve tee and shorten the other, making it a one-sleeve tee. On a sleeveless tee we shape the front to fit your hound. After you order, email aroo@houndtees.com.au your order number, which leg it is and a photo of the amputation site. Every tri-paw is different, and the photo means we're not guessing.
We usually recommend adding the cardigan snap alteration at the same time, because it makes dressing much easier. Allow 10 working days before it ships, and check the size first, because an altered piece can't be returned or exchanged if you change your mind.

How long do alterations, custom and made-to-order pieces take?
Allow 10 working days for an alteration, a custom piece or a made-to-order piece to be made before it ships. The exception is a pre-order with set shipping dates, which you'll find on the listing.
If you're posting in something you already own, the 10 working days start once you've paid the invoice we send when it arrives. Repairs take the same 10 working days.
Delivery time comes on top, and depends on where it's going: see shipping times by country. If you need it by a particular date, email aroo@houndtees.com.au before you order and we'll let you know whether we can get it to you in time.
