Meet Dolly: The Heart Behind Dollyโs Fund
DOLLY'S STORY
Dollyโs story began in the shadows of one of the worldโs darkest greyhound racing facilitiesโthe Macau Canidrome. This track, infamous for its harsh conditions and tragic outcomes, operated with little regard for the welfare of its dogs. Thousands of greyhounds were imported there from Australia, only to meet uncertain and often grim fates.
But in 2018, after years of campaigning by animal welfare groups, the Canidrome was finally shut down. In 2019, a small group of six greyhoundsโincluding Dollyโwere among the fortunate few who were rescued from the facility and brought back to the country of their birth. Thanks to the tireless efforts of Greyt Greys, Dolly made the long journey home to Australia and into the loving arms of her forever family โ Auntee Jen.
Dolly quickly found her place as the sassy, confident matriarch of Auntee Jenโs pack. With her signature side-eye and gentle sass, she ruled the household with quiet dignity and charmed everyone who crossed her path. She was a soul that left pawprints on heartsโa graceful reminder of what it means to survive and thrive against the odds.
Though Dolly has since crossed the Rainbow Bridge, her legacy continues through Dollyโs Fundโa heart-driven initiative born from her story.
Dollyโs Fund โ Giving Greyhounds a Second Chance
Dollyโs Fund is a grassroots charity inspired by Dollyโs resilience, spirit, and the belief that every greyhound deserves a soft place to land after the racetrack. Our mission is to support greyhound rescue and rehabilitation efforts by funding the vital work of established rescue organisations across Australia.
Through community fundraisers, creative campaigns, and heartfelt donations, 100% of all proceeds go directly to greyhound rescue groups. These funds help cover:
- Critical veterinary care
- Transport and rehoming costs
- Temporary foster placements
- Essential items like bedding, food, and medication
- Long-term support for senior and special-needs greyhounds
WHY IT MATTERS
Dolly was one of the lucky ones, not every story is like hersโbut thousands of greyhounds continue to face uncertain futures every year.
