How to measure your hound
CHEST
Measure your hound around their chest under the front legs. Do this snugly as this is a fitted garment and will stretch to fit your hound neatly.
LENGTH
Measure length from the crook of their neck with their head raised to the start of the tail. Imagine there is an invisible line at their backside and measure to that point.
Tees are made in stretch fabrics so they fit snug. Sweater styles are designed to be a looser fit for layering.
FITTING TIPS
Fit based on your doggos chest measurement. If your doggo is bordering on two sizes, size up.
Please note: Sweaters are approximately 2 in / 5 cm larger in the chest. Fleece and sweater styles are designed to be worn looser or over a cotton spandex tee.
My dog seems to be in-between sizes. What do I do?
If youโve measured once, make sure you measure a second time. If your hound is still in-between sizing, we recommend going with the larger size. If the chest measurement is one size but the back length is another, always go with the chest measurement. If you run into any issues, please send us an email aroo@houndtees.com.au
My dog isnโt a greyhound, will Hound-Tees still fit?
Hound-Tees are made to fit dogs with a deep chest and a slim body shape. We currently offer three breed sizes: Greyhound, Whippet, and Italian Greyhound (Iggy).
We find our garments will fit most sighthound breed dogs and some gundog breeds. If you are unsure, please contact us with your dogโs breed and measurements.

How to Choose the Right Hound-Tee โ Quick Guide
Choosing the right Hound-Tee for your long dog comes down toย four key things: temperature, activity level, your dogโs preferences and sizing.
Start by considering theย weather. Our Hound-Tees range fromย lightweight Sleeveless Tees (Warmth Factor 1)ย through toย cosy Sweatshirts (Warmth Factor 4โ5), so you can dress your hound for mild days, chilly weather or full winter snuggles. A good rule of snoot โย if youโre cold, your hound probably is too.
Next, think aboutย what your dog will be doing. Warmer options like Long Johns or Sweatshirts are perfect for resting and overnight snoozing, while lighter tees or layered outfits work well for walks and outdoor adventures.
Every hound also has their ownย preferences. Some dogs love full coverage, while others prefer less fabric or no back leg coverage. Starting with aย Sleeveless Teeย is often easiest for dogs who are new to wearing clothes.
Finally,ย check your sizing. Measure your dog and compare it to our size chart. If your hound falls between sizes, itโs usually best to size up for comfort.
What are Warmth Factors?
What your long dog should wear and when
Just like hoomans, dogs feel the cold too. With their thin skin, low body fat and bony bods, sighthounds like Greyhounds, Whippets and Iggys are especially sensitive to chilly weather. Thatโs where Hound-Tees come in. Theyโre not just cute Hound Fashun โ they help keep your long dog warm, comfy and protected.
Our garments range fromย Warmth Factor 1 to 5, and every style can be layered for extra cosiness.
Warmth Factor 1 โ Sleeveless Tees
Lightweight, breathable cotton tees perfect forย mild weather, sun protection or layering. Great for hounds who prefer the freedom of no sleeves.
Warmth Factor 2 โ Long Sleeve Tees
A little extra warmth and coverage forย cooler days, indoor lounging or casual walks. Soft, breathable cotton thatโs comfy for all-day wear.
Warmth Factor 2.5โ4 โ Long Johns
Full-body coverage forย extra chilly days and nights. With warmth for all four quick stix, theyโre perfect for sleeping, older hounds, or dogs who really feel the cold.
Warmth Factor 3 โ Tweaters
The perfectย in-between layerย made from cosy French terry cotton. Ideal for change-of-season weather or cooler outdoor adventures.
Warmth Factor 4โ5 โ Sweaters
Forย proper winter weather. Cosy, soft and designed to layer over tees for maximum warmth during cold days or overnight snoozing.
Layer Up
Our sweaters are designed slightly oversized so they can be layered easily. If your houndie is cold โย add another layer.
Donโt Forget Accessories
Neckwarmers, snoods and bandanasย add a little extra warmth while keeping your snoot stylish.
Every hound is different, so choosing the right warmth factor depends on theย weather, your dogโs preferences and how much they feel the cold. Whether itโs a light tee for a mild day or full cosy mode with layers, thereโs a Hound-Tee for every long dog.

How do I know if my hound is cold?
How to Tell if Your Sighthound Is Cold โ Quick Guide
Sighthounds like Greyhounds, Whippets and Italian Greyhounds feel the cold more than most dogs because of theirย thin skin, low body fat and bony bodies. Knowing the signs of a chilly hound can help you keep your longdog warm, comfortable and happy.
Common signs your hound is cold includeย curling up tightly, cold ears or paw pads, shivering, holding their paws off the ground, or reluctance to walk on cold surfaces. A good rule of snoot is simple โย if youโre cold, your dog probably is too, especially when temperatures drop toย 15ยฐC or below.
To keep your sighthound cosy, make sure they haveย warm clothing like Hound-Tees, a comfortable bed with soft blankets for nesting, and a warm place to rest. Long-Johns or long-sleeve tees can be especially helpful on colder days or overnight.
Keeping an eye on temperature changes is important too โ if your dog warms up after exercise or moving indoors, they may need layers removed so they can regulate their body temperature.

Clothing your Hound
Not sure about how to clothe your Hound?
When temps reach 15ยฐC (60ยฐF) or below, pop a Tee on your hound. A good rule of thumb is if you feel chilly and need to pop on a long sleeve tee or jumper โ chances are your hound does too!
Some hot tips to keep your hound warm:
To gauge if your dog is cold โ feel their ears. A good indicator is if their ears feel cold, or if they are sleeping tightly curled up in a ball or with their snoot tucked under their paw.
In the evenings, we recommend long johns, long sleeve splice tees or snuggle sweaters (these last two are a good option for those hounds who donโt like the feel of back legs).
Getting your long dog in and out of their Hound-Tee
Getting Your Long Dog In and Out of Their Hound-Tee โ Quick Guide
Sighthounds like Greyhounds, Whippets and Italian Greyhounds have long legs, deep chests and very little body fat, which means they feel the cold easily and need extra protection for their delicate skin. A well-fitted Hound-Tee helps keep your longdog warm, comfortable and protected while also looking seriously stylish.
Hound-Tees can help withย warmth, sun protection and protecting sensitive skin from hard surfaces. A good rule of snoot: if the temperature isย 15ยฐC or below, or your houndโs ears feel cold, itโs time to pop on a tee. Theyโre also perfect for nap time since they stay put better than blankets.
Putting a Hound-Tee on is simple. Guide your houndโsย head through the neck opening first, then gently place their paws through the armholes or sleeves. For Long-John styles, the back legs go through last. To remove the tee, we recommend theย โreverse banana peelโ methodย โ gently peeling the garment from the tail forward and guiding each leg out comfortably.
How do I acclimatise a newly adopted hound to clothes?
Clothes may be a foreign concept โ they might not have ever worn a coat. Ease them into it. Start with a Sleeveless tee, then move onto a Long Sleeve tee and sweaters, and then see if theyโll entertain the feeling of Long Johns.
Remember that every hound is different, so one might bound around the house and another might statue freeze. Treatos, scritches and positive praise works wonders in getting your new hound used to Hound-Tees.

Meet Hound-Tees โ The Long Dog Luff Club
Welcome to Hound-Tees! ๐พ
We create cosy, ethical clothing designed specifically forย long dogs like Greyhounds, Whippets and Italian Greyhounds. What started as a simple solution for one chilly greyhound has grown into a community of sighthound lovers around the world.
Where It All Began
Hound-Tees started withย Jen and her first greyhound, Fritz. She couldnโt find clothes that fit his long body, so she began making them herself. Because sighthounds haveย thin skin, short coats and very little body fat, clothing isnโt just cute โ it helps keep them warm and comfortable.
When Fritz started wearing his custom shirts, people kept asking where they could get one for their own hounds. Soon, Hound-Tees was born.
Today, our garments areย still handmade in Melbourneย and shipped to long dogs all over the world.
What We Care About
Hound-Tees is about more than dog clothes. Our mission is to:

โขย Help change perceptions of greyhounds, showing the world how gentle and goofy they really are
โข Createย slow fashion for fast doggosย โ durable, comfortable clothing designed to last
