Meet the Artist: The Tiny Toucan ✨
From the colourful city of Bristol in England, she creates surrounded by that perfect mix of calm and chaos. Bristol hums with art and music, but it’s also wrapped in green spaces and woodland, and the seaside is less than an hour away. It’s a place that feels creative without trying too hard. Calm, chaos, creativity… all in one.
No two days look the same, and that’s exactly how she likes it. Some mornings are spent sketching in favourite local cafés, others are tucked away in her pottery studio. There are work-from-home days too, packing orders, managing the behind-the-scenes magic of running a small business, answering emails, restocking shelves. It’s varied, full, and wonderfully independent.

Her studio is technically the spare bedroom, half shelving stacked with stock, half art supplies and collections. And right in the centre of it all? Rosie.
Rosie, the resident noodle supervisor, has been part of the family for five years. A rescue mix of mostly greyhound, with a hint of whippet and saluki for extra elegance, she is every bit the goofy diva you’d expect. Recently she’s taken to crying at her sofa blanket if it isn’t positioned with the correct fluffy side facing up. Standards must be maintained.
It’s safe to say: it’s Rosie’s world. Everyone else just lives in it.
She “helps” in the studio too, shredding tissue paper into extremely helpful confetti while orders are being packed, or sitting on the sofa with paws delicately crossed, casting a long-snooted, mildly judgemental glance that clearly says: you’ve been paying that drawing pad more attention than me.

Creativity has always been part of her world. As a child, she gravitated toward anything nature-themed, animals, plants, outdoor scenes. That love never really left. And once Rosie entered her life, it felt inevitable that sighthounds would find their way onto the page. When you share your space with a long, expressive creature permanently in your peripheral vision, inspiration isn’t hard to come by.
Her style today feels whimsical, colourful and folky, though it’s evolved over time. There’s been a conscious shift toward creating what feels authentic, rather than what feels expected. Leaning into her own creative instincts has made the work softer, more playful, more hers.
Everything begins the old-fashioned way: paper and pencil. Sketch first, always. From there, she refines and perfects digitally on her iPad, layering in handmade painterly textures so the final pieces still feel tactile and warm. The process itself? Gloriously chaotic. The finished piece? Carefully considered and perfected until it matches the vision in her head.

One project especially close to her heart is the Alphabet of Sighthounds — a passion piece capturing goofy personalities and absurd sleeping positions for every letter. It became a joyful collaboration with fellow hound lovers, who sent photos captioned “Could this be an R?” or “We finally got an S!” It wasn’t just artwork, it was community.
Outside of sighthounds, she has a soft spot for frogs (always frogs). She’s a full-time creative, building imaginary personalities for the animals she draws, once they have a voice in her head, they simply have to exist on paper.
And what is it about sighthounds that keeps pulling her back? They feel like her spirit animal. Ninety percent naps. Ten percent diva behaviour and sudden zoomies. Highly relatable.
If Rosie were to critique the artwork, though, the review would likely be brief:
“That’s nice. But I’d prefer some cheese, please.”
