Meet the Artist Bringing Nature, Whimsy and Hound Love to Life

There is something special about artists who see the world a little differently. The ones who notice quiet beauty, who pause for a bird in the garden, and who find inspiration on a beach walk with their long-legged best mate. That is exactly the energy behind Bosa Art Co, the creative home of Tasmanian artist and proud greyhound mum, Lucy’s human.

Today we are shining the spotlight on her story, her creative world and the way a rescued hound helped spark a flourishing art career.

Where Home and Heart Live

Bosa Art Co resides in beautiful Hobart, Tasmania. Although originally from Canada, she has well and truly settled into life amongst gum trees, moody skies and the kind of quiet nature that fuels her creative spirit.

Meet Lucy, the Muse Behind the Magic

At the centre of everything is Lucy, her six-year-old rescued greyhound. Adopted from Bright Side, Lucy brought joy, character and that signature sighthound silliness into the home. As the artist says, Lucy did not just join their family. She rescued them from a dull life and reminded them how funny and unique greyhounds truly are.

Our hounds have a habit of doing that. One look from those gentle eyes and suddenly you are rearranging your sofa cushions for maximum snoot comfort.

The Name Behind Bosa

BOSA is a family story. It is formed from the first initials of the family’s names, woven together just like the creativity, support and warmth that underpin the brand.

How Watercolour Found Its Way In

Creativity has always been part of her life, but watercolour entered the picture later. When her boys were babies, quiet evenings became her painting time. What started as experimentation became a new passion. When she posted her work on Instagram, people immediately connected with it. Before long, she had a box of greeting cards ready to go and a business that grew naturally from joy and curiosity.

Since then it has expanded to include prints, products, fabric design and even teaching.

It is a journey fuelled by love for the craft and the confidence to share it with the world.

Inspired by Nature, Grounded by Curiosity

Nature is her greatest teacher. She draws ideas from the garden, from birds, from camping trips and from the wild corners of Tasmania. Anything that reconnects her with the natural world sparks a fresh vision. A single walk through an inspiring garden can set a whole series in motion. A beach stroll with Lucy can unlock a creative block in minutes.

It is a reminder for all of us. When in doubt, take the hound for a walk.

The Creative Process

Her creative style is instinctive and fluid. Some ideas flow instantly. Others need to simmer until they form clearly in her mind. When stuck, she heads to the beach with Lucy and lets the waves, sand and snoot sniffs clear space for inspiration.

Life Outside the Studio

When she is not creating, you will find her in the garden, cooking, swimming or wandering through nature with Lucy. With two young boys in tow, free time comes in short bursts, but the love for the outdoors never fades.

A Proud Creative Mind

She proudly identifies as dyslexic and celebrates the unique way she sees the world. School may not have been her strongest space, but creativity always was. That difference shapes her art in a powerful way.
